Archive for the “UA” Category

Last week we discussed hygiene and this week we began
the discussion on Human Growth & Development. The students did a
great job. They have been encouraged to speak to their parents if
they have questions. They were also told that there would be the
opportunity to ask questions via the question box next week. Also,
next week students will be getting the sample packets to take home.
They will be distributed at the end of the day. Please feel free to
contact me with any questions. -Ms. Vas

VOKI

Recently in the computer lab our class experienced with a very exciting website called Voki. Voki is a website where you can create a character and make them talk. There were lots of different categories such as dogs, cats, classic, toons, animals, edgy, anime, oddballs, random, VIPs, politics, and holiday. In each category you choose a person or thing and you can make them crazy looking or you can make them look like yourself. You can also give them facial hair, different clothes, and accessories. There is a section where you can make your character very personal by giving them different bodies, heights, and widths. You can change the color of the eyes, mouth, skin, and hair of your Voki. You can also give your Voki a different back round so it fits or clashes with your character. After you are done creating your Voki you can make it talk. You can either record your own voice or type in what you want your Voki to say. To top it off you can decide what language or what accent that you want your Voki to translate your message in.

I know this sounds like so much fun and it is. To create a Voki of your own, you can visit www.voki.com and create!

MORE ABOUT VOKI…

Now in SW everyone is making little characters that say what ever you want him or her to say. You can also make them look like you and you can record your voice and they will talk exactly the way you do. This interesting website is called voki.com. These cool characters cannot only be human beings but they can be animals and animated creatures in other words, WHAT EVER YOU WANT THEM TO BE! I definitely recommend going on to this website because it something that you will love and it is fun because you get to design your own person. HOW COOL IS THAT? THE COOLEST!

Refusal Skills
In our Life Skills class we have been studying and learning about refusal skills. We talked about using them with your family and friends. Refusal skills are what you say or do to say “no” to something or someone when you are asked to do something and you think it is not a good idea or unsafe. You say “no”, but there are five steps:

1. Ask questions
(Such as where are we going, and what are we going to do?)
2. Name The Trouble
(Such as, “That’s wrong.” or “That’s against the law.”)
3. Name the Consequences
(Such as “If I do that, I’ll be grounded forever,” or “If I do that I can go to jail.”)
4. Suggest an alternative.
(“Why don’t we do something else instead?”)
5. Move it, sell it, and leave the door open.
(“If you change your  mind…”)
