We braved the seas and overcast skies and headed out to George’s Island in Boston Harbor. Students visited Fort Warren and explored the former Civil War fort. They enjoyed dark tunnels, historical stories and a relaxing day!

I am really sad that I missed this trip because I really liked our civil war unit, but the day of rest helped m to get better.

George’s island was a very exciting field trip! The ferry ride was a blast! We saw jellyfish in the harbor. When we got to the island we got tours in groups. We heard some stories that I had never heard of before. I definitely learned a ton about the island and the Civil War in general. Our tour guide was very good because he brought us into lots of the buildings and showed us historical sites. Later, after lunch we got to explore the island further in mini groups and you could go wherever you wanted with your chaperone. My group got to explore dark tunnels, dark buildings, crawl through small hole, and tell stories about that happened on that very island. Spooky! This field trip was a blast from the past!!!!!!

The field trip to George’s Island was great it was so fun learning about the fort and having free time just to roam around. I liked all to go into the dark places of the fort there was a coffin and people where lying in it. I had a lot of fun and i want to back there over the summer and spend a day.

I loved the boat ride up to the island. I learned so much about the fort and why people would raise their animals on George’s Island. Do you know why? Because the animals couldn’t run off. It was so much fun when my group went into a bakery. We found to nests of baby birds. There was a ton of cool historic things on the island. I am so happy I got to go. Thanks for the great time!
