Phew! It was very hot today, but this great class worked through it! This morning we looked over the rough drafts of our homework spaces and got some peer feedback! Next week students will receive teacher feedback to create their final drafts. We also had an opportunity to start looking at our classroom library. Students were introduced to the 5th grade genre requirement for reading too! This afternoon students completed the DDD with the entire 5th grade. It was a great way to end this first week with all of the classes! More information about this first week can be found in our first newsletter, posted above or in Learning Logs that went home with students today. We can’t wait for week #2. Enjoy the long weekend!
Newsletter – Week 1
Archive for August, 2007Today we worked more with getting organized. We met our new student, “SAL”, and had lots of starting discussion on how to treat others respectfully. Our friendly competition with grade 7 SW is ON – as we are beginning to look for more SW words to help describe our days. Looking forward to day #3, stay tuned. Yeah! We’re off to a great start. We were so impressed that everyone had their supplies ready to go. Today was a busy day – we organized supplies, went over the homework assignment, had a math read aloud, went over playground rules and worked on a solution for the Dynamic Diameter Dilemma. We’re looking forward to the rest of the week! Here is a “digital copy” of our homework sheet for this week! Please sign and return the copy your student has brought home tonight. Thank You! It’s time to come back to school! We’ll see you at the Back to School Picnic on Thursday, August 23rd. Our classroom, Room 218 will be open from 5-6pm. Stop by and introduce yourself! |
